Goodrich - Ramsey Family History
Minutes
2010 Although we were small in
numbers it was wonderful to be able to reconnect
again as a family. We may have stayed the longest
due to visiting, eating and discussing the future of
our reunion. Most of us
stayed until 4:30. As usual we shared wonderful food
at noon and ate ice cream around 3pm. Steve Goodrich
was gracious to sample ALL the choices plus
making four trips back to the food table to make
sure a few select dishes were as good as he thought
previously. 2010 Minutes
Old Business The business of repairing the
Jacob Ramsey tombstone at the Hively cemetery has
not been finalized. The contractors have not
returned Tom Goodrich’s calls. Tom has agreed to
pursue this issue and will stay in touch with the
family when a dollar amount has been procured. The
good news is the settling of the tombstones has
stabilized. A lengthy discussion on the
topic of combining the Goodrich/Ramsey reunion with
the decedents of Price Goodrich reunion was declined
because the Ramsey side would not be included. This
discussion leads to how we can get more family
members to attend the reunion. We all agreed
families are spread out throughout the country is a
major issue plus the third and fourth generations do
not know one another. Therefore, the younger
generation does not feel the need to stay connected.
This leads into new business.
New Business Suggestions were made on how
to improve the attendance:
·
Family members push to get their
families involved
·
Making sure everyone has a ride that
can make it to the reunion
·
Have a destination reunion
·
Have the reunion in Illinois i.e. near
Marvin Andris
·
More mailings and communication sent
throughout the year. This could be through direct
mailings, more emails, through a website, or a
combination of all three. The option of having the 2011
reunion in Illinois was pursued by Jody Praklet
calling and leaving a message at Marvin Andris’s
home that we would like to have the reunion there,
with his help. Then a phone call to Janet Deimer
confirmed to idea was fantastic and she nominated
Marvin as president for next year and Gerald
Goodrich 2nd
motion. The ball was set in motion for
what we would like at the 2011 reunion. Here are
suggestions:
·
Camping for a week-end.
·
Hotel prices for those who may need to
stay a night in comfort.
·
Games and entertainment for the young
and young at heart
·
Genealogy presentation
·
Music
·
Port a John for a site that may need
one
·
Auction
·
Talent show Committees were formed as a
result and in anticipation of the 2011 reunion
whether it will be held in Illinois or at Nye cabin.
The date for 2011 reunion has
not been finalized. This will be determined if
Marvin Andris agrees to the reunion in Illinois and
when it will be convenient for their schedule. The
Nye cabin has been reserved (with a deposit) for the
first Saturday in August, 2011. It has been
discussed and agreed upon that we may not get the
deposit returned if the 2011 reunion is held
elsewhere. Entertainment committee
